Our history...

The Indian community in Colorado Springs traces its humble beginnings to the early 1970s, when the first Indian families settled in the area. Many worked as engineers, while others contributed as teachers. The rise of high-tech companies in the region led to a significant growth in the community, and over the years, hundreds of Indian families made Colorado Springs their home.

While technology played a role in attracting families, the community has also enriched the region through contributions in various professions and businesses. Over time, these families have grown both culturally and socially, becoming an integral part of the city’s diverse social landscape.

The community remains closely connected through cultural and religious gatherings such as pujas, kirtans, and educational activities celebrating Indian arts, including Carnatic and Hindustani music, as well as Bharatanatyam and Kathak dance. Among the highlights of our collective journey is the annual charity show, a cherished tradition held for over thirty-five years.

For nearly five decades, the Indian community of Colorado Springs (ICCS) has celebrated and preserved India’s rich heritage while actively engaging in philanthropic endeavors. In 2019, ICCS formalized this commitment by establishing itself as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

A core part of ICCS’s mission is to promote Indian culture and foster a spirit of giving within the community. By supporting other nonprofit organizations, ICCS seeks to make a meaningful impact and encourage philanthropy among its members. Recent contributions include:

  • 2024 – ICCS Endowment of $25,000 for Pikes Peak Library District’s Disability Readiness Programs
  • 2023 – ICCS Mental Health Endowed Fund of $25,000
  • 2022 – ICCS Active Duty Scholarship Endowment of $25,000

In addition to these, ICCS has donated thousands of dollars over the years to organizations such as Care and Share, Pikes Peak Red Cross, The Urban League, Colorado Springs Police and Fire Departments, CASA, and many other local charities.
